Tia and Tamera Mowry are identical twins who are now sharing in the beauty of motherhood and marriage while Tia is also helping moms fight off the flu.
Tia Mowry-Hardrict gave birth to her son Cree Taylor a year ago and now her sister Tamera Mowry-Housley is on her way to motherhood as well as she is pregnant with her own baby boy.
During an interview with Ebony, the soon-to-be mother revealed that even though she did get to learn a lot from watching Tia go through her pregnancy, the road to motherhood still had several surprises waiting for her.
“… I guess I never realized because I’m in my third trimester right now and the excess weight takes a toll on your body, your ankles, you knees,” the 34-year-old actress explained. “But positively, I never knew you could love something so much and he’s not even born yet. I never knew how excited I would become just when I see the ultrasound. That’s my way of seeing him and I love that. I can’t wait to meet him.”
While Tamera was still learning a lot about pregnancy, her twin sister was busy learning a lot about herself and has even released a new book titled “Oh, Baby!” that will help gives a little more inside to the world of pregnancy and motherhood that Tamera had to figure out on her own.
“I’ve learned a lot about myself actually,” Tia admitted. “I’ve learned how to be more patient. When you don’t have a child and you’re a hard worker who’s always on the go, you’re on a fast pace…when you have a child you have to learn how to slow down and just be patient.”
It seems like baby Cree has taught his mommy the same thing baby Blue Ivy taught Beyonce and Egypt taught Alicia Keys – to appreciate the little things in life.
“My son gets me to enjoy the simple things in life,” Cree’s mommy continued. “I really enjoy just going to the park and spending an hour with him at the park now. At the park, I’m just another mommy hanging out with the other moms and watching our kids play and I love that.”
When it came to getting married, Tamera opened up about how she decided to take the old school approach while dating her now husband Adam Housley.
“Adam and I took a break from dating for about a year,” Mrs. Mowry-Housley explained. “We missed each other and something was drawing us together, but more than that, we wanted to make sure that this relationship was what God wanted for our lives.”
In order to do so, the couple refused to move in together and remained celibate throughout their time dating to avoid any cloudy judgment calls.
Tia and Tamera have become known as two positive televised role models, and now Tia is reaching out to moms the same way she reaches out to help kids.
As the weather gets chillier and chillier with every passing day, moms are well aware that their children are at risk for catching the flu which is not only a headache for the children, but also a pain for the mother who has to call off work and spend sleepless nights caring for her little one.
Well Tia is doing her part to put a stop to that by joining the “Say Boo! To the Flu” campaign by Clorox.
The campaign aims to educate parents on how to fight off the flu before it even infects their adorable little tykes.
Perhaps one of the favorite tips for the children is to “cough like a vampire.”
The fun slogan reminds kids to cough into the crook of their elbow as if they were Dracula holding his cape over his face.
Making the vampire analogy was a sure fire way to get kids to avoid coughing into their hands and instead get a chance to be a vampire every time they cough.
Tia also has been educating moms on what household surfaces to wipe down as much as possible such as counter tops, video game controllers, phones, keyboards, and light switches.
With all this great new knowledge about fighting off germs, we’re pretty sure Cree has nothing to worry about this flu season.
