According to Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj threatened to shoot her during their videotaped fight on the “American Idol” set.
Barbara Walters shared that Carey gave her details regarding the incident. “When Nicki walked off the set, multiple people heard Nicki say, ‘If I had a gun I would shoot the bitch,’” Walters said on The View as she read from her notes. According to Walters, Minaj and Carey ended up having a meeting and Minaj allegedly told the singer she loved her but warned there would probably be another fight.
“I love you, but we might fight again,” Minaj supposedly said.
Mariah responded, ‘No, we will not.’”
Walters added that Carey will stay at Idol despite some reservations.
“Mariah said she doesn’t feel comfortable emotionally,” Walters continued. “But she will continue with the show because she loves the show. And she loves mentoring the contestants.”
She also extended an invitation to Minaj to come on “The View” so she can tell her side of the story, but it looks like Minaj is going to tell her story using a different medium.
“Hey yAll. Lets just say nicki said smthn about a gun. Ppl will believe it cuz she’s a black rapper. Lmao. I’ll then hit up Barbara n milk it,” she said on her Twitter page. “Ironically no camera or mic heard the gun comment tho. Lol (at) the struggle. Not even the producers believed u. Say no to violence barbz.”
She also added that she didn’t need the media to tell her side of the story or clear her name. “I don’t call tmz n Barbara Walters cuz I stand on my own two feet. Never needed an army. God is good. Insecurity is as cruel as the grave,” the “Super Bass” rapped wrote.
Minaj isn’t a stranger to feuds. One of her formal rivals has spoken out and said Minaj threated her with gun violence in a rap freestyle a few years ago.
Jailed rapper Remy Ma accused Minaj of threatening her in 2008 during a videotaped freestyle that is making its rounds on the internet. In the freestyle, Minaj said “tell that bitch with the crown to run it like Chris Brown/you won three rounds, gonna need to hunt you down/like ‘Chinatown’ – b*tch better bow down/oh you ain’t know, betcha b*tch is no nail/f- I got a gun – let her know that I’m the one.”
According to Contact Music, Minaj never confirmed the subject of the aggressive verses.
