Beyoncé is her own top model for her 2012 House of Dereon clothing line. The wife/mother/singer/actress/fashion designer released the fall/winter lookbook for the line last week.
Like the designer, the clothing line has matured. The line now has a more modern look with color blocking patterns and more straight-forward designs that let a woman’s body speak for itself. Beyonce’ shot the ads for this campaign with the renowned photographer Jean Baptiste Mondino. The lookbook also reveals leopard chiffon skirts with slits up to here, structured dresses with cutouts and high-waisted printed pants, leather, prints, and many more trends for this fashion season.
House of Dereon debuted in 2006. Beyoncé started the line with her stylist and mother, Tina Knowles. The name “Dereon” derives from Beyonce’s grandmother, Agnez Dereon. “Couture.Kick.Soul” is the tag line for House of Dereon and it represents the dynamic of the clothes that is mirrored by these three strong, beautiful black women.
“I am so excited about this autumn and winter ad campaign,” Mama Knowles said in August. “The images of Beyoncé are amazing and we had a lot of fun using the [Glastonbury] festival experience as our inspiration. Like music, fashion has a universal appeal,” she said on the HOD official website. Beyoncé headlined at the contemporary arts festival, held annually in Somerset, England, in 2011.
Beyonce’ has marketed the clothing line by having her all female band wear items for the line. Also, she and her sister, Solange Knowles, are models.
Despite all the demands that come along with being a superstar and relatively new mom, Beyoncé still finds time to have fun and support her man. She and sister Solange were spotted last week in the VIP section of Jay Z’s concert dancing and cheering. The 30-year-old singer was reportedly dancing to her hubby’s song “On To The Next One.”
