The Butler centers around Eugene Allen, a butler who worked at the White House from 1952 to 1986, serving under eight presidents. The movie is based on an article written about Eugene’s life story by Wil Haygood. Allen started working at the White House at a time when black people were still discriminated against.
The film features a long list of impressive stars such as Winfrey, Forest Whitaker, David Oyelowo, Matthew McConaughey, John Cusack, Alan Rickman, Terence Howard, Cuba Good Jr., Jane Fonda, Nicole Kidman, Lenny Kravitz, Colman Domingo, Pernell Walker, Minka Kelly, Jess Williams and Robin Williams.
The Weinstein Company recently acquired the USA distribution rights to The Butler, and it is slated for a 2013 release.
