Nicole Richie Shows Skin in Revealing $8,000 Dress

Nicole Richie stepped out in a daring $8,000 Mathieu Mirano dress over the weekend that had tongues wagging in the fashion industry.

The event was the ALMA Awards in Pasadena, Calif., and Richie wasn’t shy about revealing a considerable amount of skin in a sheer dress that carries an actual price tag of $7,990—we rounded up to the nearest thousand. Perhaps the cost is for the black and gold feathers?

The look was finished off with dramatic raccoon eye makeup, Yves Saint Laurent shoes, jewelry by Meus and a clutch from her own collection, House of Harlow.

Speaking of her own collection, Richie has become a major player in the world of fashion—a far cry from her goofy days hanging out with Paris Hilton in the quaint early reality show era of “The Simple Life” that started nearly a decade ago. Now Richie is known as the designer of a jewelry line, House of Harlow 1960, a women’s apparel line called Winter Kate and a line for Macy’s called Impulse. The first two lines are named after her daughter, Harlow Winter Kate Madden. She is married to musician Joel Madden and they also have a son, Sparrow James Midnight Madden. Richie is also a mentor on the NBC reality competition series “Fashion Star,” alongside Jessica Simpson and designer John Varvatos.

In an appearance on “Good Morning America,” Richie said she was living out a dream to be a fashion designer.

“Being in fashion is something that I have been dreaming about my whole life,” she said. “I started out with jewellery because it was a smaller project and it’s closest to my heart. And I knew that once I got into ready-to-wear that it would take up my entire life. Once I decided that it was time, I went full force into it and I’m just slowly expanding and enjoying every minute.’

Richie said doing everything she does isn’t easy with two kids.

“I just have to wake up every morning and kind of prioritize and figure out what I need to focus on for the day. It’s a constant juggling act and it’s just what you have to do.”
