Oprah Winfrey chose to revitalize her acting career by taking a role in Lee Daniels’ The Butler, and now the former talk show host has tweeting some new images of her return.
The Butler centers around Eugene Allen, a butler who worked at the White House from 1952 to 1986, serving under eight presidents. The movie is based on an article written about Eugene’s life story by Wil Haygood. Allen started working at the White House at a time when black people were still discriminated against.
The photo below is from the set where she poses with the director Daniels, and a few star-studded cast members including Alan Rickman who plays Ronald Reagan and Jane Fonda channeling his wife, Nancy.
Forest Whitaker is playing the lead role as The Butler, while the actress/entertainment mogul is starring as his wife. The last time Winfrey played in a movie was in Beloved. Oprah Winfrey has never been trained as an actress, but she has seen success in her past roles. Besides her stellar performance in Beloved, she blew the audience away in The Color Purple.
