Tom Wilkinson Cast in Joel Edgerton's 'Felony'

A recent article by twitchfilm.com named Tom Wilkinson as the latest addtion to the cast of Joel Edgerton’s police thriller Felony, which has a tentative release date of 2013.

Though he hasn’t stopped working, Tom Wilkinson has managed to stay under the radar since his brief role in The Green Hornet and uncredited appearance in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. Wilkinson is a phenomenal talent who has proved again and again that he’s capable of bringing his own nuance to each role he plays, as seen in both RocknRolla and Batman Begins.

This will be Joel Edgerton‘s first full-length screenplay to be adapted into a feature film. He will also star. While his writing ability remains to be seen, Edgerton has shown through Warrior and The Odd Life of Timothy Green that he’s apt to carry a lead role.

Slated director Matthew Saville seems to be the real gamble with Felony. Saville has only directed one other movie – 2007’s understated Noise – and has yet to receive a mass audience. It’s more than intriguing to dwell on what he, combined with Edgerton’s fresh voice, will actually manage to contribute to a seemingly formulaic police thriller genre.

It’s hard to fully judge any project while it’s still in pre-production. However, the casting of Tom Wilkinson alongside Joel Edgerton shows promising beginnings. As always, we’ll keep you updated about Felony and the steps the film is taking into coming to fruition.
