Cee Lo Green to Star in Own NBC Sitcom Based on His Life

The ubiquitous Cee Lo Green may become even more of a regular sight on our screens than he already is. Green is in talks with NBC to star in a sitcom loosely based on his life.

Green, 38, one of the most imaginative figures in hip hop, will executive produce the comedy, which will be part of the first-look deal he signed with NBC, according to Deadline.com. The series will be written by Ali Leroi, co-creator of “Everybody Hates Chris” and developer of “Are We There Yet?” Cee Lo’s character will be based on his real-life relationship with his ex-wife and children, focusing on a big music star trying to find balance with his frenetic home life.

Green just appeared in the film “Sparkle” as the gritty, amusing soul singer named Blue. And of course the former member of Goodie Mob and Gnarls Barkley is one of the four-judge panel of music celebrities on “The Voice,” a show that has begun to rival “American Idol” in viewership.

Green is so busy that he had to push back the opening of his Las Vegas show to 2013 because he has so much going on. Last month he wasin Atlanta at his alma mater, Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy, to announce the creation of an environmental education nonprofit called GreenHouse Foundation that he’s starting with his sister Shedonna Alexander.
