Evelyn Lozada scored her first prime time interview on Nightline with Amy Robach after announcing her divorce from Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson following their domestic dispute. Chad and Evelyn’s were married for a mere 42 days when their world came crashing in. Reports would surface of a domestic dispute that left Evelyn with six stitches. The former wide receiver would go on to tell police that his estranged wife headbutted him during their heated argument but has since declared his love and sorrow over the events that transpired.
During the interview the Basketball Wives shared her side of the events that went sour after finding a receipt for a box of condoms which Chad said he purchased for a friend,
“…And then the next thing I know, he grabbed me by here (points to her head) and he head-butted me. I felt blood coming down my face, and I looked at him and I said, “You just head-butted me? And it just — everything just felt if it was in slow motion.”
Surprisingly Amy asked Evelyn if she understood why she was receiving backlash from fans who perceive her to be a bully.
“I understand it, but I also think that it’s like saying, “Well, look at that woman that– look at what she had on. That’s why she got raped,” you know? I just feel like– I feel it’s a little unfair, you know? Whatever the perception of me is on Basketball Wives, that doesn’t justify what happened that day, you know? That’s catty drama amongst women on a reality show.”
It is clear that Evelyn hasn’t fully realized the implications of throwing a wine bottle at someone else’s head – which if it made impact would have caused more damage than a headbutt.
But….but….the reality star may be getting the message that it’s time to tone down her “catty drama” on the show.
“You won’t see me throwin’ a bottle. I’ll tell you that. You know– I’m always gonna voice my opinion. But you won’t see me actin’ a fool, you know? I’ve grown a lot in the last couple months.”
The estranged couple have not spoken since the incident but both maintain they still love each other.
