A new photo has hit the web, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, featuring probably one of the most revered actors of our time, as one of the most beloved Presidents of all times.
In the photo below, sits Oscar winner Daniel Day-Lewis as President Abraham Lincoln, in Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln. This is the first official photo of the actor and the resemblance is striking. Day-Lewis is in a league of his own in terms of transforming into characters. Which may be the reason why, if there is an important story like this that needs to be told, directors and producers scramble to get him on board first.
Lincoln is based on the best selling book Team of Rivals, by Pulitzer Prize winning historian Doris Kearns Goodwin. Tony Kushner adapted the book for the screen and the film focuses on the political warfare between Lincoln and the powerful men in his cabinet that opposed the his mission to abolish Slavery, end the Civil War and preserve the Union.
The cast enlisted to tell is story includes Tommy Lee Jones, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Sally Field, David Oyelowo, Tim Blake Nelson, Bruce McGill, Gloria Reuben, Jeremy Strong, Dakin Matthews, Walton Goggins, and Jackie Earle Haley.
The obvious Oscar contender Lincoln, is scheduled for a November 9 release.
