Sony Pictures has set a release date for the upcoming Denzel Washington film The Equalizer. On April 11, 2014, the adaption of the 1980s CBS crime-solving series will be released on the big screen.
The original TV series was set in New York, and centered on a former secret agent who was played by the late Edward Woodward. The character with a “mysterious past” tried to make up for his past sins by offering free of charge services as an investigator. He was aided by a diverse group of contacts, some of who helped him in the past.
As already reported by Who Got The Role, Washington will be earning his usual $20 million to play in the film. Washington’s price tag is nearly half the film’s budget of $50 million, but the studios usually earn there money back and more working with the veteran actor. The Oscar award-winner will play “a solitary, monastic figure who hates injustice and devotes himself to helping people who are being victimized,” according to Deadline.
Filming for The Equalizer will start on April 8, 2013.
