To his credit, rapper Meek Mill says he not only has never been romantically involved with Rihanna, but that he actually has a girlfriend at home, according to an interview with the rising Maybach Music star in the latest issue of VIBE.
It seems that the gossip mill can’t survive for a 24-hour news cycle without RiRi’s name popping off in somebody’s mouth or on somebody’s website. Meek Mill has been in the Rihanna gossip swirl for months now, since his Twitter contretemps with Chris Brown and, of course, the infamous brawl with Chris Breezy and Drake.
In the issue of Vibe that features Meek and his Maybach crew Wale and Rick Ross on the cover, Meek Mill appears to be making sure that he squashes the rumors once and for all for a certain set of ears back home.
“I got a girl at home, so it ain’t nothing I can entertain or say I’m involved in when I’m not,” Meek said about the Rihanna rumors.
But he couldn’t let it just go at that.
“Yeah, Rihanna is my type,” he added. “Pretty chicks are my type.”
Rihanna actually started the rumor mill going when she posted pictures to Instagram of her and Meek hanging together at a New York strip club. Then Meek and Chris Brown went at it on Twitter.
“U took me off ya song cause she let me watch da throne! #dreamsandnightmares,” Meek posted to his account, perhaps referring to Brown removing him from his album after Meek’s fling with Rihanna. Brown responded with his own tweet that played on the name of Meek’s Dreamchasers mixtape series: “She’s a dream chaser! There are alot of dreamers so she’ll be running forever!”
Last month there was the New York nightclub brawl between the entourages of Chris Brown and Drake, reportedly sparked by a love triangle with Rihanna. According to Vibe, Meek and Breezy have since reconciled.
Meek said the craziness is the fault of the nonstop gossip mill.
“The media be having you tangled up,” he told VIBE. “Me and [Chris Brown] have nothing to beef about. I’m big on not even doing the rap beef s–t, ’cause in my ’hood, I know guys that got killed at rap battles. Killed over putting somebody’s name in a rap, so I’m not really big on that. You talk to that person as a man and leave it at that.”
