Lee Daniels has added another big name to his list of star actors for his upcoming film The Butler. So far, the movie will features a long list of impressive actors which includes Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey, David Oyelowo, Matthew McConaughey, John Cusack, Alan Rickman, Terence Howard, Cuba Good Jr., Jane Fonda, Nicole Kidman, Lenny Kravitz, Colman Domingo, Pernell Walker, Minka Kelly, Jess Williams and Robin Williams. Now, the director has added Grammy Award-winning singer turned actress Mariah Carey, to the already star-studded cast.
According to sources, Carey may be slated to play a role as one of the first ladies in the film which will tell the story of Eugene Allen. Allen was a black butler who worked at the White House from 1952 to 1986, serving under eight presidents. The film’s concept is based on an article written about Eugene’s life story by Wil Haygood. Allen gained employment at the White House at a time when black people were still discriminated against.
Production for the The Butler has started in New Orleans.
