20th Century Fox is set to begin production on The Wolverine next week and they still haven’t found an actress to play Viper/Victoria. Last week, the company put an offer out to Jessica Biel to fill the spot but the actress turned the role down in the negotiation stage.
One thing with Hollywood studios though, they will fill their parts even if they have to find a non-acting musician to play the role. Case in point, singer Rihanna in the Battleship? So, it hasn’t even been a full day since Biel turned the position down and 20th Century Fox has already offered the part of Viper to actress Svetlana Khodchenkova.
The Russian actress doesn’t have that much experience in the USA and is mostly known for her work in Russia, but she had a little break last year when she played in the drama Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. Victoria/Viper’s character is a complex role, and has a long run in the X-Men mythology series. According to an earlier report by Who Got The Role, Viper will play a major role in The Wolverine, so the actress would have to be a good fit. The character will play on both sides of the fence as she smooch with Wolverine and The Avengers. Hopefully, after making such a hasty choice to hit their deadlines to find their character it turn out for the good.
The Wolverine will be directed by James Mangold and the screenplay was written by Christopher McQuarrie and Mark Bomback. Hugh Jackman will once again star as the title character and the film will start shooting in Australia and Japan this August.
