Mary J. Blige has signed on to join the third season of NBC’s ‘The Voice’. The Queen of Soul will come on as an adviser for judge and Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine.
“I’ve always been a huge fan of Mary J. Blige,” said Adam. “So it’s been great having her on The Voice as an adviser to my team.”
Mary sung Adam’s praises as well, “I love Adam, he’s amazing. I’m so happy to be working with him and his team.”
Adam’s co-judge Blake Shelton will work with crooner Michael Buble while Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green have not confirmed their advisors.
The third season of The Voice premieres in early September. What about Mary J and American Idol? After JLo and Steven Tyler quit the popular talent show last week a slew of names have been thrown about. From Celine Deion, Mariah Carey, Beyonce to Mary J. Blige. Mariah’s husband Nick Cannon insist Fox can’t afford his wife. Beyonce’s spokesperson has reportedly been contacted and no word on Celine Dion.
Media analyst Brad Adgate asserted, “They need judges who will resonate with young people.”
Mary J. Blige certainly fits the bill. Time will tell.
