Beyoncé has changed her hairstyle to long box braids for the summer and it appears to be a direct influence from her younger Solange Knowles.
While it isn’t the first time the 30-year old pop singer has worn braids it’s the first time since she’s become a certified global sensation. Since her Destiny’s Child days Beyonce stayed safe with blonde lacefronts….all the time.
On Tuesday night the ‘Love on Top’ singer showed off her new look when she joined Jay-Z to celebrate rapper Nas’s album release. The following day photogs captured a better look at Beyonce’s new hairstyle and even a facial shot of baby Blue Ivy!!
Back to the braids….the younger Knowles sister often took more risks, rocking her natural hair and wearing braids in various sizes. Solange’s fashion and hair were essentially the separators between she and her big sister although it did come with at a cost. Last month Solange was forced to defend her hair choices against natural hair advocates on Twitter,
“…all i’m saying is. My hair is not very important to me…so i don’t encourage it to be important to you. I’ve never painted myself as a team natural vice president.”
