Seth MacFarlane’s Ted scored big in the box office this weekend, bringing in a staggering $54.1 million from 3,239 locations. That’s better than the first Hangover film’s $44.98 million. Among all R-rated movies it scored eighth all-time and third among comedies behind The Hangover Part 2 and Sex and the City.
Ted managed to acquired a potent release date directly in between The Amazing Spiderman and The Dark Knight Rises. After G.I. Joe: Retaliation was pushed back to march, the studio placed Ted in its place which may have helped the success of the film.
The success of the movie may also be attributed to the broad appeal that Family Guy creator MacFarlane and Lead actor Mark Wahlberg achieved. The film was awarded with a “A-” CinemaScore, which means a strong word of mouth will propel the movie to higher heights throughout the coming weeks.
Ted’s audience profile was made up of 56 percent male and younger, and 52 percent of them were 30 years of age and under.
Who would of thought that an adult movie about a talking teddy bear would do so well
