Lamar Odom’s desperation to return to Los Angeles after being traded to the Dallas Mavericks last season appears to be close to ending. But if the proposed three-team trade that has been rumored comes to fruition, Odom will be back in L.A., but with the Clippers.
Sources told ESPN.com the Utah Jazz are willing to take on Clippers guard Mo Williams in a three-team trade scenario that would send Odom to the Clippers and enable the Mavericks to shed Odom’s salary without taking back any.
Williams has to accept a trade to the Jazz, which some believe he will do as early as today. By agreeing to be moved Williams would invoke his $8.5 million player option for next season, meaning the 29-year-old is would return to the team that he began his career in 2003-04 — or test free agency this summer.
The trade also would be a homecoming of sorts for Odom, who started his career with the Clippers.
