Chris Brown-Drake Brawl Results in W.i.P’s Liquor License Suspension

In an emergency meeting, the New York State Liquor Authority on Tuesday decided to suspend the liquor license of the W.i.P. club in response to several bloody incidents at the club over the past month.

W.i.P. was the location of the now infamous Drake-Chris Brown bottle-throwing fight. The two had a verbal altercation that resulted in Drake punching Chris Brown in the face before hitting him in the chin with a champagne bottle and subsequently injuring others, including San Antonio Spurs superstar guard Tony Parker, who had his cornea lacerated by a shard of glass and may not be able to play in the London Olympics. Parker filed a $20 million lawsuit against club management.

“The SLA will not tolerate violent bars that break the law,” said State Liquor Authority chairman Dennis Rosen.

The bar has been cited by the SLA for 10 altercations since March. These citations could force the owners out of the nightclub business for two years. The owners filed a suit of their own against the city last week, countering that they shouldn’t be held responsible since they were following a security plan approved last fall by the NYPD when the bottle-throwing ensued.
