Nick Minaj is getting a warm albeit comedic welcome from BET leading up to her performance at the 2012 BET Awards. Samuel Jackson who’s confirmed to host the show felt compelled to don a pink wig while rapping ‘Beez in the Trap’ to announce the award show – watch the video clip below.
We’re sure Nicki found the clip to be cute perhaps more than concert goers who didn’t have anything good to say about her Hackney performance in London.
According to NME, Nicki took to the stage with a Monk’s robe (remember the Grammy’s?!!) “with stained glass window stage backing, the blonde singer moved through a host of tracks from ‘Roman Reloaded’ but was noticeably reliant on backing tracks, with her live vocal quieter than the recorded backing vocals. ‘Starships’ and ‘Super Bass’ finally elicited a strong response, but the rest of the set (featuring a host of topless, silver-trousered dancers) generally disappointed.”
Yikes! Hopefully her upcoming UK Arena tour will have better results. The ‘Starships’ singer just announced an eight-date arena tour through October and November starting things off at Nottingham’s Capital FM Arena on October 21 and running through November 7 when Nicki will be headlining Cardiff’s Motorpoint Arena. The tour stops will also include in Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Birmingham, London and Sheffield.
Despite her performance this past weekend Nicki has had major success in London. Her sophomore album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded landed at no. 1 and ‘Starships’ has gone 3 x platinum in the UK. We’re sure she’ll makeup for it along the way.
