In a move that many observers are calling a desperate grab for ratings, Oprah has sat down with the Kardashian clan for a two-hour interview for her show Oprah’s Next Chapter. She featured the whole family, including parents Kris and Bruce Jenner and Kourtney and Khloe’s significant others Scott Disick and Lamar Odom.
The episode is set to premier on Sunday on Oprah’s struggling network OWN at 8 p.m. Kim tweeted excitedly about the interview yesterday night. “So excited to be on @Oprah’s Next Chapter with the whole family,” she tweeted. “Ummmm no big deal Oprah just left my moms house! #DreamComeTrue.”
The interview has some questioning whether Oprah did it for ratings. “By her actions, Winfrey is showing everyone who ever trusted her taste and admired her accomplishments that she has lost her moral compass and will do anything to gain ratings,” snapped one writer for The Root. “At this point, Winfrey might as well come out and say she favors the legalization of pornography and prostitution.”
Other recent Oprah interviews include 50 Cent, Bobbi Kristina Brown and Paris Jackson, daughters of Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson respectively. While critics are wondering whether Oprah is grabbing for ratings, she regularly interviewed controversial television stars in the vein of the Kardashians for her longtime talk show on ABC.
