Chad Ochocinco, 34, and his ‘Basketball Wives’ reality TV star fiance Evelyn Lozada are facing some challenges in their relationship. Chad confirmed to the Twitterverse that he was indeed cut from the New England Patriots’ roster after only one season and 15 games.
“Thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to play for the ‘Patriot’ organization… fans were … wicked awesome, I wish all of you the best,” he tweeted while the team was announcing his release. “I’m healthy n living life, I’ll be fine.”
In better times, Patriots coach Bill Belichick described Ochocinco during the playoffs as a hard worker who “made a very good effort to do everything we’ve asked him to do on and off the field.”
Before becoming a Patriot, Ocho was drafted in the second round by Cincinnati from Oregon State. He spent 10 seasons with the Bengals and reached the Pro Bowl five straight years from 2003 to 2007 and again in ’09. He was the first player in NFL history to lead the conference in receiving four consecutive years.
Perhaps the success forged the antics. Chad Johnson changed his last name to Ochocinco as a nod to his uniform number, 85. Beyond the bizarre name change, he sometimes annoyed his teammates, coaches, and Roger Goodell, the commissioner he called “Dad” by predicting victories, sending gifts to the opposing locker rooms, and inviting fans to help him with new end zone shenanigans.
While at a time of losing a major source of his livelihood, Chad decided it was better to goof around, (laughing off his pain maybe) by hacking into Evelyn’s Twitter account.
“Yo this isn’t Evelyn this is Chad, I don’t have a job so I’ll be running her account to earn a higher allowance.. oh follow me @ochocinco,”
“Everybody unfollow Evelyn and follow me @ochocinco I need more followers for moral support and entertainment, got to go she’s off the toilet.”
With his sense of humor we hope Chad was able to take Evelyn’s jokes when she took over her Twitter page,
“Aww baby you got cut @ochocinco I got your back! I’m the bread winner now, which means I make the rules! #Boom.”
And she didn’t stop there. She answered a followers’ tweet about what she was getting Ocho for father’s day with another funny.
“A job lmfaooooo RT @Mr_EvelynLozada: @EvelynLozada what are you getting Chad for “Fathers Day”…?!?,” she wrote.
Obviously, they have that type of relationship, but maybe she should have given him a few more days?
Do you think the couple will make it down the aisle amidst the disappointments?
