Chris Rock Takes Aim At Chris Brown On Today Show; Watch Performances

UPDATE – Chris Brown on Today – Comedian Chris Rock could not pass up the opportunity to take a hit at Chris Brown when the ‘Today’ show host Matt Lauer announced the signer would ‘hit’ the stage tomorrow (Today Friday June 8th). Rock immediately begins to make jokes emphasizing the words swings, hit, smack and cautioning Matt to “watch your words.”

Let’s see how the entertainer manages the jokes and performs today – video to come later. Yesterday Chris was also involved in a twitter feud with Cher – yes, Cher. Luckily the incident did not escalate and was squashed as quickly as it began. Here’s what happened. A duplicate site reportedly tweeted this,

“That damn GRANNY bitch CHER needs to keep her mouth SHUTTTT about her opinion against obama !!! smh she needs a beating (sic).”

Cher responded to one of her followers who asked how she felt about the tweet,

“I don’t know. Is that something he’s particularly good at?”

Funny, funny Cher. The 23-year old entertainer, thankfully decided not to get caught in the moment and quickly clarified what happened,

“@cher if this is your real twitter I would like to say that

some of ur fans like @cherarmy1 are spreading false accusations”

“I have the utmost respect for u as an artist! @cher. Just to clear this up,” he added.

Cher responded, “Thanks Chris,Appreciate The Sentiment!As artist I’m Always Impressed by u!No war!no throw ‘n Shade!Just peace Goin C Pres.2morrow,Am excited (sic).”

Democracy needs journalism it can trust.

This election season, the stakes are higher than usual — and so is the pressure on newsrooms to soften their coverage, stay quiet, or just disappear. Independent reporting, the kind that answers to readers instead of advertisers or political pressure, matters more in a moment like this, not less.

For over 14 years, Atlanta Black Star has stayed independent and reader-funded. We have no corporate owner and no shareholders telling us what to cover or how to cover it. That independence is also our biggest vulnerability: nothing protects it except readers choosing to fund it directly.

Newspaper ad revenue has fallen more than 80% since 2005, and local newsrooms are closing at a rate of roughly two a week nationwide. When outlets go under in a moment like this, it's rarely the independent, reader-funded ones that get to stick around.

We know a request for support isn't why you came here. But without readers choosing to fund this work directly, the depth of reporting we can do at home and abroad shrinks along with everyone else's. If you're not in a position to give, that doesn't change how much we value you as a reader.

If you are able to, a recurring contribution does more for us than a single one-time gift, because it lets us plan the next investigation instead of just the next invoice. It takes about 30 seconds, no long form, no account. Thank you for continuing to support independent journalism and freedom of the press.
