Mary J. Blige is facing additional allegations as her 5-year old charity, Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now, Inc comes under fire from scholarship recipients. Last week, news surfaced that TD Bank sued the foundation for defaulting on a $250,000 loan. Several days later Mary J revealed her plans to get things back on track. One of the many issues to repair includes funneling funds to the students awarded a full scholarship to a college of their choosing.
Gennevive Sarfoah graduated from Women’s Academy of Excellence in 2010 and chose to attend SUNY Canton in New York City. However, one year into her matriculation and Sarfoah recalls to the NY Post that Mary’s charity left her hanging.
“I feel like they stood us up,” Sarfoah said.
Reportedly both Sarfoah and SUNY has contacted the foundation to no avail. According to Sarfoah, who was forced to acquire a loan for her second year, if payment is not received by the fall she may have to leave school.
