Pooch Hall and Tia Mowry have decided to leave ‘The Game,’ and now BET is scrambling to rework the cast and storyline to keep Season 6 of their hit show attractive to fans.
Mowry announce she was leaving the comedy drama a few weeks ago, followed by Hall a few days later. Both exits were due to involvements with other projects, according to a BET statement. Hall has reportedly signed on to do the Showtime pilot “Ray Donovan.”
The remaining cast members Wendy Raquel Robinson, Coby Bell, Hosea Chanchez, Brandy Norwood and Barry A. Floyd are expected to stay on for the next season, but will the show still be able to maintain popularity despite the departure of its favorite couple?
Questions about what happens to football star Derwin (Hall) and his med school grad wife Melanie (Mowry) will be answered in the season finale of The Game, “The Championship Game Episode,” which airs Tuesday, June 5 at 10:00 p.m. Derwin has won the championship for the San Diego Sabers, but him and Melanie have not decided how to proceed with their potential long distance relationship.
Will the couple breakup? Or, will Derwin decide to retire and leave the game onscreen, the way he has in real life?
