Rihanna is the new queen of pop culture, beating out Lady Gaga on Billboard’s Social 50 chart.
Billboard’s Social 50 chart ranks the most popular artists on YouTube, Vevo, Facebook, Twitter and Myspace, using a formula that combines weekly additions of friends, fans and followers along with weekly artist page views and weekly song plays.
Rihanna now reigns as the most popular celebrity. Heping push the Barbados bombshell to the top is her top twenty single Where Have You Been. Rising from number 13 to 11 on the Hot 100, it continues to be one of the most popular tracks from the pop star’s release, Talk That Talk. With her bad girl antics, addiction to Twitter—where she has been known to post some shockingly raunchy tweets—and penchant for the red carpet, Rihanna has become a daily staple in the gossip column and websites.
Other artists featured on Billboard’s 50 top ten include Adele (3), Skrillex (4), Katy Perry (5), Nicki Minaj (7), Linkin Park (8), One Direction (9) and Jennifer Lopez (10).
