Earlier this week the Orlando Magic fired head coach Stan Van Gundy after months of rumors that their superstar center Dwight Howard wanted him gone. Howard has denied these claims even after Van Gundy himself confirmed the report.
Yesterday Dwight spoke on the situation with TMZ while in Beverly Hills. “I hate to see anyone lose their job. Me and Stan … we had our ups and downs … but for the most part we had one goal … to win a championship in Orlando, but we fell short.”
Even after Van Gundy’s firing, reports began to circulate yesterday Orlando is still looking to trade Howard before next season.
According to NBA blogger Chris Sheridan, sources say that when Magic team president Pat Williams spoke with owner Rich DeVos, they came to the conclusion that it was time for everyone to go, Howard included.
Looks like this media circus won’t be over anytime soon.
