TIME Highlights First Lady Michelle Obama as Fashion Icon

First Lady Michelle Obama as a fashion icon is the subject of a feature on Time magazine’s website, entitled “Michelle Obama’s Defining Fashion Moments.”

The site presents an astounding 68 pictures of the First Lady, from workout clothes to casual chic to stunning ball gowns. There’s a commentary with each picture caption, explaining why the outfit was a defining moment. For instance, one picture shows the First Lady wearing snug purple pants and a top and cardigan from French designer Sonia Rykiel’s lower-priced line, demonstrating that she’s eclectic in her choices. In that photo, Obama towers over the much smaller Jill Biden, whose outfit is much less interesting.

For the White House Correspondents Dinner, the First Lady is shown in a stunning floral printed gown by Naeem Khan, a designer she often wears to more formal events. One of her hippest outfits was the metallic Wes Gordon top she wore in March to Nickelodeon’s annual Kids’ Choice Awards in Los Angeles.

For those who haven’t followed the daily fashion show that is Michelle Obama’s life, the feature in Time is a wonderful way to visit the fabulous pieces she has sported over the last few years.
