The first trailer for ‘Won’t Back Down’ has made its debut. The feel-good drama stars Oscar winning actresses Maggie Gyllenhaal and Viola Davis.
In the film, the two stars play crusading parents on a mission to help improve the failing education system for their children and other inner city students. Along the way they collide with many obstacles from discouraging teachers, school administrators, and a doubting union representative, played by Holly Hunter.
Won’t Back Down is said to be inspired by true events. The New York Times reported that the film is based not solely on one specific set of events, but a nationwide movement of parents trying to do something about the education crisis facing the United States.
The movie is helmed by Beastly director Daniel Barnz, who also co-wrote the script with Brin Hill. Besides Maggie Gyllenhall, Viola Davis, and Holly Hunter, the film stars the likes of Ving Rhames, Nona Alberts, Lance Reddick, Oscar Isaac, and Rosie Perez.
Won’t Back Down hits theaters September 28th, 2012, just in time for the elections. Will you be watching?
