Ryan Reynolds may move further along in staking his claim as a supernatural hero. After having difficulties resonating with audiences as the Green Lantern, and his brief appearance as Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Reynolds will try once again to save the world as an immortal swordsman in Highlander.
According to a Variety report, Lionsgate/Summit and Reynolds are mutually very interested in him playing the lead role in their reboot of the Highlander franchise. The two sides are reportedly in talks to strike an agreement.
There are currently very little details about the plot for the Highlander reboot, however it is known that Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks) was made director after Fast Five’s Justin Lin decided to pass on the job to focus on Fast and Furious 6. The film was scheduled to begin filming in the Spring of 2012, but with summer fast approaching, sticking to that date looks unlikely. Ryan Reynolds just finished filming the supernatural action-comedy R.I.P.D. alongside Jeff Bridges.
