Will Smith: I Have “No Problem” Paying More Taxes to Help My Country

President Obama apparently has another high profile supporter of the so-called Buffett Rule: Will Smith, who said he would have “no problem” paying more in taxes to help his country.

Obama has made gaining support for the Buffett Rule—a 30 percent tax on millionaires—a major goal in his efforts to make the tax code fairer. Billionaire investor Warren Buffett has been the most significant proponent of the change to date, leading Obama to name the proposal after him.

During promotional appearances for his latest film, Men In Black III, Smith told the Associated Press that Obama can add his name to the list of supporters of the plan.

“I’m very supportive of that idea,” Smith said in an interview. “America has been fantastic to me. I have no problem paying whatever I need to pay to keep my country growing.”

Smith has a net worth of $215 million, according to therichest.org, earning an estimated $36 million last year. According to Vanity Fair, Smith was paid an estimated $20 million for Men In Black III.
