'X Factor' Fires Kelly Rowland

Kelly Rowland has been dismissed as judge on the X Factor U.K. TV show. According to sources, the former Destiny’s Child singer, who turned soloist, has been pushed aside so that producers could pursue Dannii Minogue.

Reports surfaced that the show’s boss Simon Cowell outed Rowland because he felt that she hadn’t connected properly with viewers.

However, another source has claimed: “Kelly was never given a contract to look at by bosses. Simon has remained a big fan of Dannii’s and wants her back.”

During the taping of the show last year, it was said that Rowland was flying back-and-forth to the US for another job and also missed an episode after calling in sick.

An X Factor insider said: “Kelly put a lot of people’s noses out of joint last year due to her lack of commitment and her demands.”

In a statement, a rep for Rowland took a diplomatic approach when discussing the dismissal of the singer: “Kelly has not been able to agree to a deal that fits into her autumn/winter schedule, so sadly cannot accept a place on the 2012 panel.”

The singer released her own small statement saying her time on the show was “an incredible experience” and a “great opportunity.”
