T. R. Knight is joining Chadwick Boseman and Harrison Ford in the Jackie Robinson Biopic 42. Boseman takes on the biggest role of his career by bringing to life the Dodgers’ baseball legend.
Knight is best known for his Emmy-nominated performance on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy. Knight will play Harold Parrott, the Dodgers’ traveling secretary who has to deal with the backlash of housing an African American, after Robinson joins the team.
Ford is playing Branch Rickery the man who signed the famed baseball player.
Robinson was the first black player to play in the Major League and he wore the number 42. He broke the color barrier when he joined the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1942. More importantly he played a significant role in ending the racial divide that once ripped the nation apart.
The film is being directed by Brian Helgeland and produced by Legendary Pictures’ CEO Thomas Tull, while Disney Chairman Dick Cook is the executive producer.
After a short hiatus, this will mark Knight’s first return to film since 2009.
