Melissa Gilbert was a no-show for Tuesday’s elimination show on Dancing with the Stars (DWTS) while Sherri Shepherd was tearfully voted off. Gilbert’s absence prompted partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy to imply her injuries are “amplified” though host Tim Bergeron declared her suffering from a mild concussion.
“I’m alright,” she tweeted. “Mild concussion and whiplash. Very soon I will be safely home resting and being taken care of.”
Earlier reports had Gilbert intact following her grievance to get to moving back on the dance floor after she was transported to the nearest hospital by ambulance after complaining of dizziness backstage, but that didn’t pan out.
“Melissa is not here. She did suffer a mild concussion,” Bergeron said. “On her doctor’s advice she is taking a rest day and if they get through tonight she’ll be able to compete going forward.”
Sounds simple enough to us, but Maksim puts a different spin on the former “Little House On The Prairie” actress’ injury where he severely downplays her level of hurt to TMZ.
After insisting Melissa “bumped her head”, he went on to say producers “don’t fake” celebrity’s injuries for the show, but indeed injuries are “amplified.” (Uh uh! His comment may not go over too well.)
Meanwhile, the View’s Sherri Shepherd, a fan-favorite, was sent packing in the most-shocking elimination of the season, according to ABC News. Instead of the mouthy co-host whimpering about getting the boot, she focused on the joys of the opportunity.
“It pushes you mentally and physically and it is a life-changing experience, I have to say,” Sheppard said. “So I have to say thank you…I’m so grateful to God for the ride I got to take, the friendships I got to make, the people I get to keep in touch with.”
Glady’s Knight had this to say of the elimination, “She’s a ball of fire. She’s energy…She’s very positive with everyone. She’s just wide-open and I love that about her…I’m gonna miss her.
