Gabrielle Union and her longtime beau Dwyane Wade may have a picture perfect relationship but it didn’t come without some major hurdles. Namely Wade’s now ex-wife Siohvaughn Wade who filed a lawsuit against Gabrielle accusing her of sabotaging her marriage with Dwyane. Siohvaughn would eventually loose custody of her two boys with Dwyane and her lawsuit dismissed but not before Gabrielle was labeled a homewrecker by the public. Despite the label the Think Like A Man actress never addressed the claims publicly…until now interview with Jet magazine.
On refusing to publicly address the rumors until now:
“The kids. For the people that hire me, it’s a non issue. But at the end of the day, Dwyane’s kids are going to be the ones who really suffer. They’re 10 and 4 and a half. They’re old enough to understand the mean things that strangers can say.”
On the public’s perception of her relationship with Dwyane:
“I think people mistook me taking the high road as an admission of guilt. Dwyane and I made a decision very early to not react to the negativity. And I kept feeling like the truth would come out. The problem is, when it did, nobody cared. What I discovered on social media is that people don’t read the entire story.”
On the lawsuit:
“I fought it. My life is just too easy to track. So, we were submitting plenty of proof for the times she said I was in Miami. So, it was like, obviously you’re not telling the truth. And then the courts dismissed the case.”
On her current relationship with Siovaughn:
“I’ve never had one. I wasn’t involved then-because I wasn’t involved with their marriage–and I don’t have one now.”
It’s tough to begin a relationship with such hurdles but it appears Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade has weathered the storm.
