Nails can complete your look or make a statement. Remember Lindsay Lohan’s nail fiasco during her court appearance? Eh, we don’t suggest that public notice, but the declarations you can make through your fingertips this season is endless. Going to the nail salon to get cuticles pushed back finished with clear polish is shall we say….boring.

Adding mellow pastels, notched-down neons, or pleasant shapes renders selections that can have you in and out the nail salon every three days.

From the runway to everyday wear, here are some nail tips we spotted and sure you’ll want to try for spring. And don’t worry, if a specific look doesn’t work for you, you can always grab the acetone.

Here are five must-try nail looks:

Neon: Neons were around last season, but think starburst colors in mellow tones for spring—chartreuse yellow to blue-green aquarium-like polish are for the ladies who don’t mind the extra pop or attention. These eye-catching colors are sure to get you noticed without blaring side effects. Katy Perry is a definite fan.

Racing Stripes: Think bold stripes without any fuss. Maybe one color is a bit boring for you. So, adding a contrasting stripe over another color is a sure way to jazz up a look without fighting against it. Sounds like a Nicki Minaj try, right?

Ladylike:These are nails filed to an extreme while maintaining a dainty feel. The contouring of the nail is the fashion statement instead of a specific color or markings being the highlight, the shape of the nail stands on its own. Rihanna has made this look her staple nail-wear.

Reverse French Manicure: Cute and for the girl who doesn’t mind an extra kick. This is an update to a definite classic that’s refreshing and surprisingly not over-the-top. Doesn’t this scream Solange?

Lattice: The delicate pattern over fresh, nude colors is to shriek for! It takes a tried-and-true look to another level without screaming change. The subtlety of the design can also work before or after hours. A la Cassie?
