Chad Michael Murray is the latest actor to be cast in ABC’s upcoming pilot Scruples.
The TV show is based on the 1970s novel by Judith Krantz, which follows the story of Billy Winthrop. Winthrop is a character who works her way up from humble beginnings, to become the wife of an extremely wealthy man. After her husband dies and leaves her with all his money, she becomes a very successful clothing designer in an intense world of sex and scandal.
Murray will play Spider Elliot, a photographer who eventually becomes the creative director of Billy’s boutique. After Elliot arrives to work at the Beverly Hills store, success arrives, and the business becomes the premiere shopping destination.
The One Tree Hill star joins a list of actors who already signed on to work on the show including Claire Forlani, Jessica McNamee and Boris Kodjoe. Forlani will star as Billy Winthrop; McNamee was tapped to play an ambition celebrity writer and Billy’s close friend, and Boris Kodjoe will be Josh Hillman, the lawyer of Billy’s late husband.
Natalie Portman and Tony Krantz are the executive producers of the show.
