A $10 million offer is being thrown around for Britney Spears to join X Factor. The talent competition’s creator Simon Cowell allegedly personally reached out to the ‘Hold it Against Me’ pop star. The premiere season of US X Factor underperformed in comparison to the blockbuster numbers Cowell was hoping to achieve. In the wake of the disappointment Nicole Scherzinger, Paula Abdul and host Steve Jones were fired. Music executive L.A Reid held his post. Several names flew around to fill the empty seats including Mariah Carey, Beyonce and Janet Jackson who recently turned down the offer citing other commitments.
Simon remains coy about potentially adding Spears to the line up saying during a recent conference call, “are we flattered there would be interest from Britney Spears? Yes.”
In the same call the media mogul added “there’s going to be a lot of twists and turns over the next few weeks and a lot of things we’re going to announce.”
In terms of the $10 million offer a source told Deadline Hollywood that Spears’s agent and fiance Jason Trawick has nearly sealed the deal before adding,
“The offer also would catapult Spears to the top tier of reality series talent as it is in line with what Spears’ former Mickey Mouse Clubhouse cohort Christina Aguilera will be making on the third season of The Voice and just below the $12 million Jennifer Lopez received on American Idol last season.”
