Natalie Portman And Benjamin Milliepied Spark Secret Marriage Rumors

Actress Natalie Portman was spotted wearing wedding ring and her fiancé Benjamin Milliepied a wedding band at the 2012 Academy Awards this past Sunday. Did Natalie and Benjamin secretly get married?

Though Portman was beaming in a vintage red chiffon Christian Dior Couture gown and dripping in diamonds while presenting the best actor award to “The Artist’s” Jean Dujardin, the additional bauble on her ring finger is the ruling headliner—did they or didn’t they?

Well, if jeweler Jaime Wolf is to be believed, the two have indeed jumped the broom and congratulations are in order!

“I designed the rings worn by Benjamin Millepied and Natalie Portman,” Wolf told US. “They were made with recycled platinum and conflict free diamonds.”

Portman and Millepied, Natalie’s on-set choreographer, met during the shooting of “Black Swan” in 2009 when reportedly the dancer was involved with ballerina Isabella Boylston whom he allegedly dumped for Portman. A year later, the two announced an engagement and a visit from the stork— Aleph Portman-Millepied, the couple’s 7-month-old.

The “V For Vendetta” actress has been absent from the Hollywood circle besides the past two award shows of the season, the Oscars and the Golden Globes, which may account for the couple’s secret wedding and post-wedding celebrations. Golden Globes host, Ricky Gervais, slighted the actress, all in humor, for her perceived priorities.

“Last year our next presenter won both the Golden Globe and the Oscar for her work in ‘Black Swan.’ This year, she took some time out to have a baby. Consequently, she’s been nominated for nothing. Really pathetic,” Gervais said. “But she learned that valuable lesson you all already knew: Never put family first.”

The couple has not made any official comment on their rumored nuptials.

If the couple is indeed a Mr. & Mrs—congratulations! See pictures of Natalie Portman’s engagement and possible wedding ring below:

Democracy needs journalism it can trust.

This election season, the stakes are higher than usual — and so is the pressure on newsrooms to soften their coverage, stay quiet, or just disappear. Independent reporting, the kind that answers to readers instead of advertisers or political pressure, matters more in a moment like this, not less.

For over 14 years, Atlanta Black Star has stayed independent and reader-funded. We have no corporate owner and no shareholders telling us what to cover or how to cover it. That independence is also our biggest vulnerability: nothing protects it except readers choosing to fund it directly.

Newspaper ad revenue has fallen more than 80% since 2005, and local newsrooms are closing at a rate of roughly two a week nationwide. When outlets go under in a moment like this, it's rarely the independent, reader-funded ones that get to stick around.

We know a request for support isn't why you came here. But without readers choosing to fund this work directly, the depth of reporting we can do at home and abroad shrinks along with everyone else's. If you're not in a position to give, that doesn't change how much we value you as a reader.

If you are able to, a recurring contribution does more for us than a single one-time gift, because it lets us plan the next investigation instead of just the next invoice. It takes about 30 seconds, no long form, no account. Thank you for continuing to support independent journalism and freedom of the press.
