Eva Longoria will serve as national co-chair of Barack Obama re-election campaign, the president’s campaign headquarters announced on Wednesday. Longoria will be drawing on her celebrity sway to garner support for president Obama in his re-election bid. Among her responsibilities will be to seek top-tier endorsements and contributions.
The Desperate Housewives star is a longtime and vocal Obama supporter. During her most recent guest appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”,Eva told the host: “It’s a special privilege to meet our commander-in-chief. I’m a big Obama supporter no matter what he’s been through. He’s been beaten up the past couple of years.”
Longoria, who introduced Obama at an Hollywood Fundraiser event last fall, said he “speaks to the Latino community because he knows he’s the president of all Americans.”
According to Reuters, besides Eva Longoria, the other co-chairs named to the Barack Obama re-election campaign are Kal Penn, former Obama chiefs of staff Rahm Emanuel and Bill Daley, Massachusetts governor Deval Patrick, and Los Angeles mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.
