Kelly Rowland performed Whitney Houston‘s rendition of “The Greatest Love Of All” with Stevie Wonder at the Power of Love Gala last night celebrating Muhammad Ali’s 70th birthday.
Apparently bridging two juxtaposition occurrences, the X Factor judge covered the late iconic singer’s version of the song, though originally recorded by George Benson for the 1977 Ali biopic “The Greatest”, while dedicating the song to the birthday great.
Although Stevie Wonder performed at the birthday event, he played the piano for the former Destiny’s Child member during her various acts.
The “Motivation” singer arrived at the Las Vegas gala in a fuchsia, strapless gown with her usual big, curly hair as of late, but donned two other looks throughout the evening that meticulously framed her toned body.
Other guests who showed up to offer support to the boxing legend who suffers from Parkinson’s disease were rappers Snoop Dogg and Diddy, singers Ne-yo and Lenny Kravitz, soccer star David Beckham, and actors Samuel L. Jackson, Anthony Hopkins, and Tony Danza.
The birthday event is twofold as to garner millions of dollars for charity and to raise money for the Muhammad Ali Center, a cultural and educational center in Louisville, Kentucky.
A portion of the proceeds will go to the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, which treats Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Multiple sclerosis and other disorders of memory, movement and mood.
