Warner Bros. has officially started the process to begin developing the new I Am Legend 2 film.
Will Smith is on board as a co-producer of the movie, but he hasn’t signed on to star in the movie as of yet because he’s waiting to see a written script. Akiva Goldsman, who co-wrote and produced the first I Am Legend, will also return as a producer.
I Am Legend starred Smith as the last surviving human in New York, which was taken over by monsters that survived a virus attack that killed all of humanity.
The powerhouse studio has hired Arash Amel to write the movie but it’s unclear what direction he will go in since Smith’s character, Robert Neville, died at the end of the first film.
The first installment made an incredible $584 million for Warner Bros. worldwide.
