Kevin Costner Reportedly Chosen To Speak At Whitney Houston's Funeral

Kevin Costner has been chosen to participate in the New Jersey funeral of Whitney Houston, his co-star in the 1992 blockbuster The Bodyguard, according to People.com.

The source told People that Costner will speak at Houston’s childhood church in Newark, where the singer and actress sang in the choir and first mesmorized listeners with her voice.

Whitney Houston sang “I Will Always Love You”, the featured song on the soundtrack for The Bodyguard.  Costner played a former Secret Service agent who falls for Houston’s character, a pop star he was hired to protect from a dangerous stalker.

Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder are also expected to perform at Houston’s invitation-only funeral service. Houston’s longtime mentor, record producer Clive Davis, will deliver the eulogy.

Whitney was found dead Saturday in the bathtub of her suite at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, and her body was returned to New Jersey on Tuesday. Her death remains under investigation, and officials have yet to state the cause as they are awaiting the results to a toxicoligy exam.

The funeral for the 48-year-old recording mega-star will take place on Saturday at 12:00 PM ET/9:00 AM at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark.
