Whitney Houston Dies: Rihanna, Bobby Brown & Other Fans React

UPDATE-Whitney Houston died on Saturday, February 11th at the age of 48 years old. According to a police report obtained by TMZ, a member of Whitney’s entourage called 911 from her Beverly Hilton hotel after first contacting hotel security. Reportedly paramedics were unaware they were coming to the aid of Houston until arriving.

When they arrived she was unresponsive. After several unsuccessful attempts at CPR Whitney Houston was pronounced dead at 6:55pm EST.

Whitney was at the hotel to prepare for the annual Clive Davis Grammy party – which sadly continued without a hitch.

In the wake of this shocking news celebrities and fans took to twitter to share their heartfelt remorse. Mariah Carey, once considered Whitney’s rival, gave the most touching tribute,

“Heartbroken and in tears over the shocking death of my friend, the incomparable Ms. Whitney Houston.”

Carey who performed the powerful duet “When You Believe” with Whitney added, “My heartfelt condolences to Whitney’s family and to all her millions of fans throughout the world. She will never be forgotten as one of the greatest voices to ever grace the earth.”

Bobby Brown who had dinner with Whitney and their daughter Bobbi Kristina earlier this month was scheduled to perform with New Edition in Southaven, Miss. when he heard of the news. Reportedly Brown was going “in and out of crying fits.” In the end Brown chose to perform with his bandmates by his side and addressed the crowd with a tribute to Whitney,

“First of all, I want to tell you that I love you all. Second, I would like to say, I love you Whitney. The hardest thing for me to do is to come on this stage.

Oprah Winfrey also tweeted: To me Whitney was THE VOICE. We got to hear a part of God every time she sang. Heart is heavy, spirit grateful for the GIFT of her.
