Chris Rock announced that he is working on courting “Bridesmaids” breakout star Melissa McCarthy for one of his potential future projects. The comedian-turned movie writer/director told 24 Frames he is looking to ‘romance her’ into playing alongside him as a dysfunctional couple.
Rock will have to wait his turn to book McCarthy since things have really taken off for the actress. Aside from shooting the network television show “Mike & Molly”, there’s the Seth Gordon-helmed comedy with Jason Bateman called “Identity Theft”, the R-Rated road movie “Tammy” she’s been trying to get off the ground, and the always looming potential of a “Bridesmaids II”.
On the the other hand, these two comedic minds pairing up could offer an interesting blend, with both offering very distinct comedic styles and playing to two different audiences.
