Jada Pinkett Smith, Simon Cowell Collaborate On DJ Competition Show

Will and Jada Pinkett Smith are joining forces up with reality TV show magnate Simon Cowell for the next prodigious judge-competitor show on hunt for a disc jockey talent unlike none other.

“We’ve been working on this show for over a year and we wanted to partner with the right people,” Cowell said in a statement.

Cowell’s SYCO Entertainment and the Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment will team up with Sony Pictures Television to catapult the career of a skilled DJ through the “DJ Superstar” show with the help of a national and international stage.

“This show will comb the world to find a new breed of talent,” Pinkett-Smith said in a statement.

The partners will soon announce the show’s U.S. and U.K. broadcasters.

“DJ’s are the new rock stars, it feels like the right time to make this show,” Cowell said.

After all, the sometime abrasive judge has a knack for knowing what will work for talent-themed reality shows in the states and abroad. Simon is the brains behind the “X Factor”, “America’s Got Talent”, “Britain’s Got talent”, “Celebrities Duets Pop Idol”, and “American Idol”. Though some of his post-American Idol shows are suffering in ratings, Cowell is thrilled about his joint venture.

“Excited to announce new DJ show. I will NOT be judging this show. Excited to be working with @jadapsmith. Stay tuned!” Simon tweeted.
