New mommy and burgeoning businesswoman, Jessica Alba has just announced the launch of her first company The Honest Co. Alba who’s a mommy to daughters Haven and Honor, launched Honest.com along with author and environmentalist Christopher Gavigan, ShoeDazzle founder Brian Lee and PriceGrabber.com executive Sean Kane.
According to a press release Jessica’s business was born out of frustration.
“I’ve spent way too many hours researching products and driving around trying to find safer, eco-friendly options for my kids.I knew that most people didn’t have that kind of time, nor the means to pay the premium prices. We had to make it easier.”
Jessica and her partners sort out to make environmentally friendly and toxic-free baby and household items available for everyone via a monthly subscription. The project was three years in the making.
“I would buy what I thought was like an eco-brand and pay out the wazoo for it and then find out that it’s made with the same ingredients as any other brand, but the packaging is a little more biodegradable and you’re like `But I care about the product touching my kid. Is that OK?'”
Partner Sean Kane added, “Fundamentally, we want to be an honest family brand, to be a brand that is a family and treats everyone like family.”
Christopher Gavigan also added that the brand will grow with the input of its community, “We believe that we are creating a new business model, and that by seriously inviting the input of every one of our stakeholders — from our leadership team to moms at home — together, we can make it better.”
Good luck to Jessica Alba and her new venture!
