Update-Reigning Dancing with the Stars champion, Karina Smirnoff, has reportedly called off her engagement with Detroit Tigers pitcher Brad Penny.
Karina, 33, and Brad, 33, began dating in October 2009 shortly after Karina ended her engagement to Maksim Chmerkovskiy. A year later the couple announced their engagement. Despite being considered an odd couple, Karina repeatedly gushed about her loving relationship with Brad and her lavish wedding plans. Earlier this year she told People,
“I have a man who supports me and loves me unconditionally, so it’s been amazing,” she says. “I’ve been praying and my prayers have been answered, so thank you Lord.”
But their differences may have brought them apart in the end,
“They are just two different people,” a source revealed to E! News after the break up news surfaced. Brad’s noticeable absence during Karina’s championship run with partner J.R Martinez on Dancing with the Stars was also a sign of trouble ahead. But perhaps the most telling sign came after Karina, who allegedly only wears her engagement ring for promotional shots, revealed the January wedding would be postponed to focus on DWTS. But the season is over..which would leave plenty of time for Karina and Brad to make it work, no?
“There’s absolutely no time,” said Karina. “I want to enjoy this and I want to enjoy planning the wedding and doing it together is just really hard.”
So for now, it’s over between Karina Smirnoff and Brad Penny.
Lea Michele Flirts With Ashton Kutcher Post Demi Moore Split
Lea Michele may have boasted her Glee co-star Jonathan Groff as her date to the premiere of ‘New Years Eve’ last night but it was her newly single movie co-star Ashton Kutcher who was getting all the attention!
“On my way to the premiere!” Lea tweeted. “Have the most handsome date with me tonight Mr Jonathan Groff :).”
Ashton Kutcher, Lea Michele, Katherine Heigl, Zac Efron, Ludacris, Abigail Breslin, Fergie and others descended on the Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood to promote their star studded romantic film New Year’s Eve.
Monday night also marked Ashton’s first red carpet appearance since Demi Moore, his wife of six years, announced their split.
But Ashton didn’t let that keep him down as he had fun with the cameras flirting heavily with his love interest in the film Lea Michele. The on camera couple, hugged, laughed, touched and even gave each other the eyes… To bad for the press the show ended on the red carpet because Ashton skipped interviews and the afterparty. Which means any questions on Sara Leal, Demi Moore, a reconciliation were all out the window!
