Interscope Records in house choreographer Laurieann Gibson is shedding some light, not much, on what led to her split from Lady Gaga as her chief Creative Director. Initial news of the break up was shocking to some but other pundits felt the split was well underway. Cited reasons were Gibson’s impatience with Gaga’s fans aptly called Little Monsters, Gibson’s growing fame and disagreements behind the scenes.
In a official statement released through the Hollywood Reporter, Gibson hinted that it may have been Lady Gaga’s own growing fame and her desires for more creative control that caused the split. Read the statement below:
“I am fulfilled with the work I have done with choreographing all of the iconic moves, creative directing the artist, appearances, shows, directing the tour, music videos, and the HBO Monster Ball, which was a culmination of my work as its creator and director. Recently, Lady Gaga was motivated to take the helm of the creative direction of her career and as such I decided to step away. I am extremely proud of her, and in stepping away I wish her all the best. I look forward to continuing my work with notable artists, as well as new artists that are part of my Interscope Records deal, and the upcoming seasons of my TV shows.”
What do you think? Did Lady Gaga outgrow Laurieann Gibson?
