Update-Did Nicki Minaj steal her outrageous puff ball design outfit from a rising designer? While the Super Bass singer is making her colorful rounds at New York Fashion Week and striking up an envious relationship with Vogue’s editor-in chief Anna Wintour an up and coming designer is living a nightmare.
At the Carolina Herrera runway show Nicki wore a multicolored puff ball top paired with what looked like a cheerleader skirt and a few other distracting pieces. Well the color puff ball design was apparently created by up and coming designer Jessica Raye Rogers for SomedayNewYorker. It didn’t help that Nicki was sitting next to Anna Wintour, someone Jessica “admires”. Reportedly Nicki’s team contacted Jessica to potentially use her designs; sample images were sent to Nicki but there was no follow-up.
According to Style Bistro Jessica was “devastated” when she saw pictures of Nicki Minaj.
“I’ve worked very hard to make my dream of being a fashion designer come true…I feel like everything has crumbled down. I admire Anna Wintour very much,” she says. “I was hoping that one day she would see my garments and it would be the first time that she would see Puff Balls used as I use them.”
The puff ball design is likely not exclusive to Someday so it will be interesting to see how this plays out. Not to mention it’s a pretty bold move of Nicki to wear a “stolen” idea at Fashion Week!!! Take a look below at some pics from SomedayNewYorker and Nicki Minaj.
